Those moments of exploring something and just hearing a little music is called a glimpse of the past. It’s areas that were in the original game, but not really used in the remake. Kind of an Easter egg for fans of the original game :)

Not sure if you'll see this but those interactable locations where the top and bottom of the screen glitch/static for a moment and James stares at them are called "Glimpses of the Past" which are nods to things from the original game (like the blocked tunnel at the beginning of the game).
