If you'll allow me to go all in for a moment and not just meme, the reason Luigi's Mansion 2 sucks is that it's not scary enough. What made the original so memorable was that it was a completely unique E rated horror game. It was genuinely a more sophisticated horror game than nearly every other one on the market at the time. It bounced back and forth between having genuinely great atmosphere, having a sense of humour, and just being a fun game. No moment better shows the first game's strengths than the black out. It's a cool gameplay segment where you're bombarded by ghosts, and you make your way to the scary breaker room and see a frighting old man ghost. He lets out a wail in pain that's initially startling, but then you laugh when you realize it's a gameplay based joke where the old man exposes his heart by having a heart attack. Then you get that moment where you're like "GET HIM!! YEAH!!" and you forget the scary part and are back to fun. You proudly march up and flip the switch, and the house is powered on again. Luigi's Mansion 2 wishes it had even one genuinely great idea or reason to exist.
