This story was amazing. Maybe I’m biased because I’m a long time Diablo fan but the people in these comments are trippin. This DLC was fantastic.

I can describe this entire expansion with one question, "What if Diablo was made in China?". Blizzard is such a hack company now... They have a pre-established world creation origin of Anu(God) and Tiamat(Devil) killing each other in a great battle and from Anu spawned the heavens(angels) and Tiamat spawned the hells(devils/demons). For eternity the two fought until Inareus and Lilith stole the worldstone and created Sanctuary. The humans are descendants of Angels and Demons that crossbred and had their power nerfed by the world stone when Inareus discovered they were more powerful than the most powerful of Angels and Demons.
They used this SAME creation origin for the main game of Diablo 4 and then they created this expansion to just say "Nah fam, we also have Indian(from India) spirits and Chinese folk spirits that just spawned from NOTHING". This is just pathetic and makes it impossible for me to consider this story as anything other than fanfiction. I hope they got that China money they so desperately are whoring themselves out for.

I remember watching my father play Diablo 1 and 2. To be honest with you, the gameplay is irrelevant for me. It has never played any role for me.
But what was really important for me, the story. Even as a child I understood that you can’t have the game without both, story and gameplay combined into something well-rounded.
Diablo is brutal, dark, honest and very, very repulsive. It is our hopes and dreams, inverted into something that is constantly under attack.
And it is not pompous, allegorical or artistic. It’s a story you would tell at a campfire, to stay a while and listen.
This is just some generic fantasy drama, overly symbolic and utterly … boring.
