Why does the NRS community put up with the latest game? MKX and the other games are right there but makes Mk1 and new game on, the relevant game to play. MK X is such a rich fighting game. People still play and embrace UMVC3 for example. So many people were hype even outside the nrs scene when MKX Twitch rivals was showcased again too. Why does the NRS community put up with all the bs and just go back.

You are on point. My main issue with this game is the microtransactions. If you want to charge for skins, at least give the Skin packs like X or 11...but charging $5 or more PER SKIN when it is not a f2p game is crazy. And the drsgon krystals you can get in game being limited is just bad.
Other than that, invasions is Meh to me. Don't hate it, but I definetly do not love it. I take my time with each season.
I do not have plus subscription so I play offline, and I gotta say I still have tons of fun playing in the Klassic Towers or in VS mode no matter if it is with Friends at home or the CPU.

Honestly, I adore MK1 but I'm willing to admit there have been issues. Some of the Invasions seasons have been rough (the Scorpion and Mileena seasons, particularly), but I think that mode is vastly improving with every go-round. The microtransactions were especially egregious at first but have gotten more reasonable: I'd argue that they're doing better in that regard than Street Fighter 6, but that doesn't mean there weren't substantial problems at the start.
However, I've loved the kombat system, especially the kameos, from day 1. Heck, the initial trailer that showed off the kameos is what got me back into the franchise for the first time since the arcade era. I then went back and got all the previous NRS titles to get a feel for modern MK, starting with MK11. Going from MK11 to MK1 is an almost life-changing experience: there's so much more freedom and versatility in MK1, especially as the game's expanded.
Obviously, I'm psyched outta my mind for Khaos Reigns and can't wait to see what's next for the game. It's already my favorite MK and is quickly on its way to being one of my favorite fighting games of all time.

Casual player since MKII. MK1 is the second entry I skipped (other was MK vs DC).
My reasons were MK1 was already expensive at $70 so I was planning on waiting until the "Aftermath" expansion of the game to get it slightly cheaper or without having to get the expansion on top of it. On top of that the campaign itself looked to be a rehash of MK11 Aftermath with the end fight essentially being the same.
Also from looking at reviews I saw the post game single player content was extremely lacking with a lack of customization options without cranking out the credit card.
Honestly Kameo system looks cool but it did rub me the wrong way that there are so many that I wanted a full character. From playing durung 3d era not having a playable Shujinko or Mavado does just feel lame.
I am waiting for Khaos Reigns and hopefully it turns it around for the game. I just wanted to share my two cents being a casual fan that loves MK.

I can’t believe it’s been 1 Year since we got MK1 and while I understand where everyone is going, I appreciate what NRS did to MK1, I never hated the Game, while it has Flaws there’s tons of Good Things in it that makes me appreciate it more and more, I thought I regretted preordering it but now I see the Build Up the Game is doing planting the Seeds of the Future, while MK9, MKX, and Deception are the Top 3 Best Games, MK1 is to me one of the Best Games of the Franchise and one thing we can all agree on is that this has the Best Roster in the Franchise other than MK9.

All have had their issues and some aspects of these games more than others. There's an element of fun to each at the end of the day.

I love MK1 I think it’s a top tier game I have almost 900 hours played, I have a KOTH/Practice PlayStation group with 40+ people an we do sum tournaments and we just casuals an die hard mk fans we all like playing together. One year later MK1 is still one of the main games I play. Need no Kameo mode for more casual players and match options.

This game was basically a beta in year one and that's unacceptable,warrior shrine is still not active and we dont even know what it is!!. This should not even be legal lol. The balance in this game is also a problem and mix that in with Kameo and tournaments are so boring to watch. Now we know its selling slower than mk1 and you see them change their cocky ways with the free skins and stuff. Humbled so lets see if they can really change this game around, im just glad I got this game on a big discount. Paying for kameo does not sit well with me damn, its not even a fully playable character and I have to play and if you dont pay......well we know how strong dlc kameos are.

I think the issue with MK1 was 2 fold. One was that fans kind of over-hyped themselves and then Netherrealm Studios followed up with just headscratching decisions that felt designed to drain any and all good will that they could. So even if the game is fixed it's gonna have that stigma

To me this game definitely it got better as the updates went on I enjoyed it at launch and im still enjoying it a lot more than Tekken 8 and sf6 those games are ok but I do feel more MK1 is more rewarding with the finishers and the gameplay the kombos are way more fun

My 2 complaints were;; Why a promise of new storylines & then it's just:: Same fate! There was so much hype for Lui Kang's universe; but it's all the same besides some gender swaps. #2; Offline mode!! Yes, they've added things to Invasions; it's still boring ASF! The only real difference now is I can't get 100% completion on any mesa now. This last season I didn't even try to go through the mesas after beating the Titan...... Because of complete boredom. I think Kameos were a great idea & you can see the gameplay getting more interesting. But, I refuse to pay $50 more -knowing I only care about Sektor & Noob in this pack. They should have given us more offline content for that price & T1000, Conan & Ghost face could have Just Been Kameos.

Mk1's reputation will hurt the next games sales. This game has already already sold less than the previous game by the 1 year old date. If NRS makes another Mortal Kombat game, they better go all out. They cannot afford another fuck up like the last two games are. I think NRS is banking that the name of the franchise itself is enough to get people to buy it. It sort of worked with mk1, but I don't think it will with the next game. The next game needs to remove the kameo system, add the krypt again, have some offline kontent, and most importantly, make sure the game functions at launch. Otherwise, it's over for the franchise.

I haven’t touched mk1 since December when it came out. The game was just to watered down or it just didn’t live up to my expectations. I love mk and mkX is my favorite fighting game of all time.. but I’m not gonna lie when I say mk did take a down turn. I started to play tekken and even though I kind of fallen off from tekken too; it still leaps and bounds ahead Z I hope the next mk takes a real look at what neather realm what’s to do and sticks with it.

I am in a funny situation with this game. Not a fan of the Kameo system but I love the game to death. I like it more than Mortal Kombat X and 11. I would love a 1 Vs. 1 mode but if it's not to be then never mind. As someone who is vision impaired this is the first time in such a very long time I have been able to access everything in the game. Because there aren't many people who need the screen reader or other accessibility this aspect of the game goes largely forgotten. Let's just say that it demolishes accessibility in any other fighting game out there.
