If you are looking to get into the lore I would suggest watching videos by a YouTuber called WesHammer. He creates lore and story recap videos that are great for fans who are not familiar with the world and terminology used in the Warhammer 40k setting. Also you can start anywhere once you learn the basics about the Horus Heresy which pretty much leads to the events of everything 40k. After you learn about that just jump in anywhere. It's like comic books you don't need to read everything to enjoy the universe.
