I can't help but feel bad for Shang Tsung with that sad look on his face. I get why Liu Kang set the evil doers on the path that they did, but why not make them good instead? With potential for a great life? Seeing as we see original timeline Shang Tsung corrupt every good character to become evil.

From what i understand, Liu Kang cant make peoples decisions for them. He altered history so that Shang Tsung never learned magic. But Shang Tsung had every opportunity to redeem himself, like Mileena and Reptile. But he *chose* to scam desperate farmers. He *chose* to become a snake oil salesman. And when someone appealed to his ego and tempted him with power, he *chose* to endanger the realms.
