My review: 9/10 on the "nothing is perfect scale" or 10/10 on the "yeah but its still a GOTY" scale.

Imagine the party in act 1 after the goblin camp is by far the best time you spend with your companions all together and beats the ending of the entire game by a longshot.

I like how throughout the game The Emperor seems so shifty and manipulative, always hiding things from you, tempting you to become more Illithid, but at the end of the day, he always does exactly what he says he's gonna do, and never betrays you, unless you turn on him first.

The quality of the rest of the game is let down by the sudden and unsatisfying ending. I know endings are hard to do right, but this game needed a LOTR type ending where you have real farewells and goodbyes. Just at least a slideshow with narration to cap off the time you spent with these characters that you get to know and love. I actually am going to miss them. that's how good this game was.

I don't see Arabella, Minsc, Isobel, or Yurgir? For me: Astarion ascends, Lae'zel gets red dragon (frees then kills Orpheus), Wyll (with horns) saves Karlach by taking her to Avernus, Shadowheart gets her parents back, Gale lives and will search for the Netherstones in the sea, Helsin dispelled the curse and got Thaniel back, Isobel gets back Dame Aylin (Nightsong), Jaheira has her family, and Minsc has Boo. Emperor (last in-game illithid), Cazador, Lorroakan, Viconia DeVir, Sarevok and Raphael are dead.

It's a really underwhelming ending imo. After sinking so much time into a game with stellar acts 1 and 2, with a rather meh and buggy act 3 in my opinion, not seeing any resolution to any of the really brain wracking choices I agonized over makes looking back on the whole experience as a little empty. It's such a polished game overall but I can't help feeling the end got a bit rushed.

Man whata game. I did the hero ending aswell, but a bit different. I wanted to save the githyankis. So I saved Orpheus, killed the emperor(sad) and then sacrificed myself. Basically Orpheus says only a mindflayer can end the brain with the stones. He would transform, but I decided to transform myself. Then in the end I have the choice of killing myself, which I did uz it's traggic yet super heroic, cuz honestly, your character ends up looking so damn evil xD

My ending bugged out or i did something like the only person i got to talk to at the end was lae zel because of letting the prince die. It immediately goes to my character ending like it just skips all the resolutions of the companions. I reloaded and tried another ending but still the same thing. This really ruined it for me. I just looked it up and some other people have the same issue.

Since the main story had an actual ending.
But they can always add more content leading to the ending, but there are also a lot of voicelines and branching story decisions to connect one another leading to the ending.
I hope they do more content but there are just too many player made things to connect.
