I remember something that they actually re-created the whole game during development. All that mess during production took away that something which could have given us a classic with sequels. The ending was so dull al the way that it made me mad that I played it.

i never noticed before the screams for "water!! water!!" when you flame them. i loved this, you really rushed through it, some sequences deserve some time man, the sound is wild and totally unique, and the weapons are brilliant, i wish there was a follow up. two things that haven't been exploited in video games is time shifting, as with this, and free fall, the closest to zero gravity i think was in halo and it was a cut scene and just a few seconds, but i'd love to see more of the wild things computer graphics can do, instead of photo realism, photo fantism!!

Timeshift is my favourite ever 'bad' game. I don't think it's a bad game at all, despite the many reviews saying otherwise, but I think that most gamers have a game that they really like even though the general consensus is that it's not much good.
And when Timeshift works, it's fantastic. The time mechanics are amazing, the environments and details are great (and the city manages to seem like somewhere from a parallel Earth/timeline) to look at, and (mostly) play through, and the weapons are really good.
On the minus side, I've never known a game to tell it's story so badly. And some of the objective placements and 'orders' don't even register - often when playing the game you'll get a "Objective Complete" message when you were just playing through the level and didn't even know that there was a specific objective for you to complete there.
Some of the levels can be tedious to play through, and others just seem empty due to not enough enemies. More variety in the enemies would be nice. And I wish it didn't have a weapon carrying limit, but at least it is a limit of three weapons, which is much better than just two.
But my biggest disappointment is that the game has no upgrade feature. The few seconds that you can take back time isn't long enough to do anything non-story specific. I mean, if you see an ally shot to death, then you can rewind and bring him back to life, but then your time energy runs out, and time resumes it's normal speed and unless you're really quick then he gets shot again and dies. The game *really* needed an upgrade feature, say where you either (a) received an upgrade point every so often on your journey through the game, or better still, you had to search and find upgrade points somehow (which would have the advfantage of giving you a good reason for search through the games open but largely empty outdoor area). Then, for example, you could choose to use that upgrade point to extend any of the following suit abilities:
Slow motion mode,
Pause mode,
Time rewind mode,
The speed of the time energy's restoration,
The strength of your suit''s shield,
The speed of your suit's healing ability,
The distance of your rader,
And maybe, just for more variation:
How much ammunition you can carry,
How many grenades you can carry,
Your running speed.
And sadly, Timeshift is one of the first person shooters that never supported modding, along with Bioshock and Bioshock 2, two other games that would have had amazing mods if the modding tools had been released for them.
Edit: I forgot to say, I too really wish that we had seen a sequel to Timeshift. The time mechanics in Timeshift are so good that I find it very surprising that no other first person shooter has tried to replicate them (other than the pretty common slow motion/bullet time mechanic, of course). Or is there such a game, and I've not heard of it (or preferably them!)?
