Has fought a few major bosses that give him WUKONG!!! armor, the literal namesake of the game. That would suggest that maybe you gotta fight some more bosses to get the full armor. Meanwhile he runs away from the giant grasshopper that anybody with a brain would realize might just maybe give you another piece of armor.
