They already conned me on the whole Johnny/Janet ordeal. I just don't see how ANY old school fan can be excited about seeing these klassic characters get spit on. It's sickening, and they won't get any of my money for it! I will NOT support their pandering to DEI tactics. They don't care about the legacy, lore, or old school fans anymore, and it's VERY obvious! They'll keep doing these things because people accept it, think it's cool, or don't care so, they'll keep buying it. Not to say that gameplay wont make these characters redeemable but overall this selection just makes me feel indifferent. First, scream is prob one of the more generic/underbaked horror icons in terms of ability and creative potential. Guy with knife just doesnt seem as interesting as some of the more creative options still out there like Samara (the ring), Pennywise (IT), or hell even Art the Clown (Terrifier) just to name a few. Previous horror additions were not only scary and interesting but I could take them seriously (arguably leatherface is the exception) as actual threats against the roster. Noobs reveal costume has strong design overlap with Ermac and is overall kinda generic. Just reminds me of the mummy ermac ascetic thats been made SEVERAL times. Next, i dont give a shit that they gender swapped Cyrax/Sektor but these are still prob some of the weaker designs and its just werid in cannon why Liu Kang would gender flip them (creepy but imo likely they from different "timeline"). Lastly, the last characters represent franchises that are either dormant (Conan) or in the shitter (Terminator) which leads to mediocre brand synergy. I just wish the guest fighters yielded more creative potential and I hope we dont get watered down versions of these characters like we did with MK11 Rambo and Terminator whoms movesets were ASS and clunky (again prob not bc mk1 is a huge step up gameplay wise). While I agree that Noob, Cyrax, and Sektor are smart roster additions, its odd were praising netherrealm for simply readding core characters when other fighting game franchises seem to incorporate thier popular iconic characters regularly on launch day as opposed to selling them to you later.
