It gives you armor and is good for stopping aggressive rushdown (only con is you can get low attacked out of PC). I’m scenarios where you could hard punish a whiff, you often see people who are used to MK punish with a crouching 1 instead of a launcher or a WR move. I don’t blame you. In MK1, that down 1 is often how you steal your turn back. Tekken is not a game where you think about the combos. It's not Mortal Kombat, combos in Tekken are things that come out IF you hit the opponent, then you should focus on a combo. It's a game where you should use the whole moveset, highs, lows, mids, throws etc. In a few words, there's not a specific gameplan, you change your playstyle depending the situation and the opponent. "Oh this guy gets hit by this launcher every time, then you're gonna combo the hell out of him". "That guy blocks all of my launchers, so combo starters are out of the question and I will decrease his healthbar in other ways".
