He was a human, part of a cult who was surgically modified to get closer with the hive, xenos do not kill creatures that are carrying their babies because that will kill the baby. That’s why he couldn’t be harmed by them, and the tech he had on delayed the emergence process. That’s why he can safely walk among them.
